Fundamental questions relating to the nature and behaviour of people used to be in the hands of the philosophers. However about 100 years ago, a more systematic and scientific approach to such issues was taken and in 1879 the first laboratory dedicated to experimental psychology was founded by Wilhelm Wundt and modern psychology was born.
