Kudler Fine Foods is the vision of Kathy Kudler, founder and owner. Kudler Fine Foods represents the finest ingredients for gourmet cooking. Epicurean food shops are rare in the San Diego metropolitan area. Kathy's creation of a local upscale specialty food store has proven that business is good in the fashionable shopping centers that Kudler stores are located.
Kudler Fine Foods have been operating since June of 1998 and have expanded operations in 2000 and 2003. All stores sell the very best in domestic and imported food items. Multiple departments in the stores include fresh bakery and pastries, fresh produce, fresh meat & seafood, condiments & packaged foods, cheese's, and specialty dairy products. Kudler Fine Foods has experienced major growth and is focusing on expanding the services, improving the efficiency of operations and increasing the customer purchase cycle to increase the loyalty and profitability of its customers. Kudler has also broadened the spectrum on customer sales to include internet sales, catering services and on-line ordering.
Kudler has evolved through technology to increase sales. Kudler has incorporated several changes within the organization to provide a well run organization that is seeking to be a long running company in the industry of gourmet food distributor. This paper will identify how changes in technology have created business opportunities for Kudler; the generic strategy Kudler is pursuing and how Kudler management can continuously scan the fine foods grocer industry for ideas that will allow it to update its strategy.
