Case Study: Let It Pour
This paper will look at the definitive presented in a case study as seen through the eyes and applied critical thinking skills of Chris Smith, Executive Assistant at Faith Community Hospital. Chris is a recent graduate of the University of Phoenix, and is about to start her first day as the executive assistant to the chief executive officer, Pat. Chris is happy about her promotion at work and with life in general. She is ready for the new challenges that await her in this new position. Chris has no idea how challenging her very first day will be as her boss calls her into his office to hand her her first assignment as an executive assistant.
Stating the problem
After a review of the issues that were outlined by the CEO, Chris came to the conclusion that these problems were comprised of three main entities that govern any organization: organizational processes, ethics issues and a breakdown in communication systems. These problems have led to Faith Community Hospital experiencing a decline of steady and smooth operational procedures within its daily operations. One of the business objectives that will need to be approached is to focus the entire workforce on one goal and one mission.
According to the hospital's mission statement, which speaks of the "
foundation and commitment of our spiritual heritage and values to promote the health and well-being of the people in the communities we serve
" (University of Phoenix Material), the staff of the hospital is not in alignment with this promise. As a result, there is a non-unified approach to the service being delivered, thereby creating a sense of chaos in the business structure. These oversights have also led to the hospital experiencing high operating costs that will need to be reduced by a significant margin.
