Coast Mountain Sports Ltd is under a parent company--Forzani Group Ltd. was originally founded by John Forzani and three of his Calgary Stampeder teammates as "Forzani's Locker Room" selling athletic footwear in 1974. The company's headquarter is located in Calgary, Alberta. In the following years, F.G.L.was growing steadily and expanded their business to include clothing, licensed apparel and sports equipment. F.G.L.'s corporate value is to provide the best shopping experience, have the largest market share/buying power, remain the lowest cost competitor, offer unique branded products, and maintain most profitable sports/lifestyle retailer position in Canada. With strong faith and vision, F.G.L. soon became Canada's largest specialty sporting goods retailer with annual gross revenues of approximately $266 million after acquiring outstanding shares of Sports Check International Ltd in 1991, Hogarth's Sport & Ski in 1992, and Sports Experts Inc. in 1994. From 1995 to 1998, F.G.L. lunched new corporate and franchise division, expanded senior management and enhanced capital structure. As a result, the company's market share increased from 7.7% in 1995 to 14% in 2000. In 2000 and the following year, F.G.L. acquired Coast Mountain Sports as premiere outdoor life banner and Sports Mart as mid price point banner. In other words, F.G.L. has included their products, brands, and price range in most ranges to suit for every consumer's needs and wants. Until now, Forzani Group Ltd is still the largest and only national sporting goods retailer covering approximate 16.4% of the entire Canadian sporting market with 252 corporate stores and 194 franchise stores offering varies brand names and price range over the Canadian market.
