Coffee Time is considering expansion of their multi-national upscale coffee houses and one of the locations they are considering is India. In order to choose whether or not to enter the India market much data needs to be accumulated and analyzed. The locations they should enter along with the validity and reliability of the data they collect needs to be analyzed. The Business Development Manager will determine what decision making strategies should be used while addressing the constraints posed in this scenario and that the data collected is a true random sample.
The more equipped a Business Manager is to make decisions; the better the outcome will be once his decisions are made. If he is able to distinguish what is knowable, unknowable and researchable he will be able to decide the best use of resources. If he is able to determine the reliability and validity of data, his business will benefit from that insight. If he is able to research secondary data and make good use of it, he will be able to make quicker and less costly decisions. A Business Manager is far better suited to the task of managerial decision making if he has mastered the techniques of statistical analysis. In this analysis, our Business Manager will use these techniques to determine if his company, Coffee Time, will benefit from expansion into India markets.
