This paper concerns developing a change management plan and defense with regard to the organization CrysTel. The change management plan will be developed by answering the following questions:
1) Identify the major implications of the change at CrysTel, including any human behavior implications.
2) Select an appropriate change model for CrysTel. Develop a plan that addresses human variables and potential resistance to change. Be sure to include contingency strategies for managing any resistance.
3) Select an appropriate leadership style for successfully implementing the change at CrysTel. Recommend management and leadership practices that will contribute to the continuing success of the change.
4) Recommend measures to monitor the progress of the change at CrysTel.
5) Analyze three future leadership challenges that CrysTel might face in the next 5 to 10 years.
CrysTel is a telecommunication company operating out of Illinois and employs approximately 2500 personnel and produces an annual income of 200 million. The primary services offered at CrysTel are data cables, wireless solutions, and network development. CrysTel is in need of changes to keep pace with the ever changing field of telecommunications. The demand of the market fluctuates depending on necessity and frequent technological advancements. CrysTel offers new technology in the form of copper interconnectivity, code division multiple access, general packet radio services and other real time solutions. The combination of these new technologies already makes up 37 % of CrysTel’s current income (University of Phoenix, 2007). These facts show the importance of constant change and that constant change is more than just keeping up with the Joneses. In order to understand CrysTel better, one needs to look at the organizational culture. The vision, mission, and values at CrysTel will give some insight into this culture.
