Cults

The dictionary definition of a cult goes as follows: a religion or sect considered to be false, unorthodox, or extremist, with members often living outside of conventional society under the direction of a charismatic leader.
Many Cults still exist in society today. We are very often shocked by what seems to be the mindless mass suicides that take place by large groups of people who belong to a cult. Jonestown, Order of the Solar Temple, and Heaven's Gate, are all examples of cults that have taken the lives of large quantities of people who were led to believe that what they were doing was a good cause for a higher power.
