Day At School

Every week night eight girls and I eat dinner at Berkshire Dining Commons located in Southwest on the campus of Umass, Amherst. Each girl is presently in their second year of college. In relation to each other the girls are all best friends and share common eating habits, living situations, and activities on the weekends. I encountered that the girls changed their mood when they entered the dining commons. Before entering Berkshire’s the girls complained about how miserable their day was and that they were extremely hungary. After their entrance they were more quiet and concentrated on the people around them and what station they were going to get their found at. Before entering Berkshire all the girls were packed together and interacting quiet loudly and after entering ever girl went their own way. After the girls got their food they conjoined once again and sat together at one table.
Common conversation that took was what sports teams sat around us. Each girl had something to say about each athlete. Different girls reacted when a specific person walked in. One girl took over her jacket and hardly touched her food when she caught a glimpse of her old boyfriend. Conversation was enhanced with gossip from the previous weekend and online conversations that were held prior to the dinner plans. Also, plans for that particular night also filled a lot of the conversation between the girls. I noticed that even with the large number of girls, each girl had their fair share of expressing their own story. The interaction between the girls flowed well and not one girl did not have their time to speak about their experience or opinions about the latest gossip.
