It sucks to be poor! The only thing harder than being poor, is being poor and a student. For some achieving a quality education can be difficult or almost impossible, while for other it is just taken for granted. There are bridges and gaps forming and widening everyday in how we educate the public. Everyone should be afforded the same opportunities to receive an education. Secondary education, defined as the act or process of imparting or acquiring general knowledge, has its purpose preparing young adults for mature life; and is best when properly funded and staffed and at its worse when it is the opposite.
Whether one attends public or private school, secondary educational institutions have one goal. Their goal is to prepare their students as best as possible to lead a successful life. In general, education is used to teach people the necessary skills needed to survive in their environment. There are other means of education besides traditional schools. Some of these include military, flight, and, other technical schools. These schools focus on teaching their students a trade or a specific skill needed for the type of job they're pursuing.

Along with everything else education system has its problems. These issues range from school funding, failing schools, achievement gaps and teachers salaries. Failing schools should be the department of educations focal point. There are a plethora of reasons why many of America's schools are failing. The " No child left benind" act of 2002 has further crippled weak and failing schools. With this legislation failing schools would receive less state and federal funding. Most if not all of the failing school districts are having money issues.
