Effective Manager
An autocratic manager believes that employees hate to work hard and therefore expend much energy to monitor and enforce a strict work mandate. This is a traditional type of manager. In constant, the recent trend is a more fair and natural manager who believes that employees can work under self-direction as they are responsible adults. The two different types of managers have varying skills. In this generation, an effective manger has essential qualities which are effective communication skills, stress management skills, time management and motivational skills.
First of all, effective communication is of utmost importance in the work of a manager. Managers spend 80 % of their work time communicating therefore they need to be very proficient in this area. According to the CMA Management magazine, "[the] broke down of that surprisingly large percentage looks like this: 10% writing, 15% reading, 25% listening, and 30% speaking" (14). Therefore, an effective communication technique is a key component to lead an organization successfully. There are several points of effective communication. A manager must use simple and clear words and avoid repetitive mistakes or errors. This will assist in building the credibility of the message. Repetitive massages contribute to employees understanding leaning and acceptance. In addition, a manager must be aware of the variety of technological tools that can be used to communicate, such as e-mail, newspaper, memos and audio-visual methods. Managers need to pick the most effective technique in their circumstance. Next, a manager must understand the capabilities of their audience when deciding upon their use of words, sentences and context. Lastly, a manager should be aware of the voice from the bottom up.
