Employee Relations
Introduction
The purpose of this report is to present the current developments in employee relations and the employment law and their implications for management strategy and practice within P&ODS.
People and Organisational Development Services (P&OD S) are the unit that deliver HR services to the Royal Mail Group. The unit is divided into three parts which are Centralized Process, Customer Operations and People Contact and Engagement Services.
The Centralized Process teams runs the ‘assembly lines’ and look after all the HR processes. They are responsible for delivering day-to-day centralised processes to all Royal Mail Group employees.
The main process areas are:
• Recruitment Services
• Recognition and Reward Services - responsible for payroll, bonuses, allowances etc
• Great Place to Work Services - responsible for providing advice and support concerning Employee Relations and Corporate Social Responsibility activity
• Learning Services - responsible for delivering training and development services
• Pension and Leavers - responsible for pensions support for current and former employees
Customer Operations are responsible for dealing with the HR Business Partners and ensuring that the business units are happy with the services being provided. There are eight Regional Operations Teams responsible for delivering local HR services for recruitment, learning, advice & support and safety, health and environment through Regional Service Managers and Customer Service Advisors.
People Contact Services (PCS) is an important unit which operates between P&ODS and the business. They enable Royal Mail employees and third parties to engage easily with P&ODS, gain access to services, information and advice and provide timely and appropriate information on Royal Mail Group employees.
