Erectile Dysfunction
Erectile Dysfunction
Abstract
Erectile dysfunction is something that occurs in countless men and can be caused by a number of different issues. It is a fact that more than half of all men over 40 years of age have difficulties in getting or maintaining an erection (Pfizer, 2006). However, this also happens with younger men as well. There are many treatment options available to assist an individual who is experiencing symptoms of erectile dysfunction, or more commonly referred to as ED. The physical bodily characteristic of ED is a lack of blood streaming to the penis that results in trouble getting and keeping an erection long enough to have intercourse. It may be that this happens very seldom, or in many cases, extremely often (Pfizer, 2006). Understanding how an erection works will help convey an effective idea of improvements in erectile function. It is generally caused by an underlying health problem. Heart disease and high blood pressure are two issues, among several, that can affect one’s blood flow and eventually lead to ED (Pfizer, 2006).

Often times when men are faced with this issue that can be embarrassing under certain circumstances, they are not usually aware of the real underlying problems. There is a perfectly good explanation for what is happening and men should not feel the need to make excuses for themselves. “Well, it just happened a few times. It’s no big deal” or “It’s because I’ve been so stressed lately.” Sometimes, men even scare themselves into thinking it is much worse and untreatable, “I’m way too young to have this problem. It must be something else” (Pfizer, 2006)....
