Gap Analysis: Global Communications
“Managers face problems constantly. Some problems that require a decision are relatively simple; others seem overwhelming” (Bateman-Snell p66). Along with making important decisions comes conflict. Global Communications is faced with important decisions that conflict with opposing pressures from the Union, employees, and stakeholders alike.
“On Wall Street, confidence in the telecommunications industry is waning” (Global Communications Scenario). The problems Global Communications are faced with are too much competition. The competition has caused profitability to fall and stock prices have decreased over the last three years. The problem Global Communications is faced with has caused issues to arise for the senior leadership team. The leadership team has developed a two-pronged aggressive approach to help the situation. Each of these two approaches has created new issues the team needs to address.
Global Communications has identified the problems and have come up with solutions to help. The leadership team now needs to find solutions that work, implement those decisions then evaluate the progress of the decisions. The senior leadership team needs to find the opportunities within the problems and issues. During this paper, those opportunities will be developed and recognized.
