Harrison-Keyes is a major player in the publishing industry. The company has over 22 thousands publications accredited to them and publishes approximately 2,000 new publications every year. The company publishes a wide variety of printed titles and the company is considered to be a global publisher. Harrison-Keyes is known for publishing titles from major literary gurus. Harrison-Keyes has recently restructured the way the organization would sell some if not all the publications that publish. Due to an unforeseen competition from low-cost retailers, the company has decided to implement an e-publishing strategy to revitalize the company.
A communication gap exists between the major groups of stakeholders, the leadership team, Asia Digital, the owners of Harrison-Keyes, and the employees. Implementation decisions have been made by members of the leadership team that had an adverse affect on how the strategy will affect the job security of the employees. In addition, Harrison-Keyes has been facing a great deal of employee turnover as well as a new CEO who favors traditional publishing and is not a big fan of e-books.
The employees have a concern about the leadership at Harrison-Keyes and exhibit a lack of motivation with regard to job security. The employees value their jobs and have a solid interest in management having better communication with them. The employees want to be shown how that the e-publishing strategy will be comparable to other organizations in the industry.
