How To Jump-Serve
It takes great patience and skillfulness to learn how to jump serve. Jump serving requires a lot of practice and motivation; however, it may be achieved through the following steps. First you must be sure you are in a gym with an extensive amount of space. If you are too close to walls you may find it difficult to serve successfully. After you have established a suitable place to workout you must move on to more important details. You need to stretch thoroughly before beginning any physical exercise; otherwise you may end up with a painful result. After stretching you may pick up the volleyball and place it in the opposite hand of your dominant hitting hand. I find it best to switch the ball to your hitting hand as you take your first step forward. The first step you will take is with the foot on the same side as your hitting hand. You will take four steps altering your feet each time, ending up on your opposite foot you began with. Toss the ball about twice your body height as you take your first step. Be sure you place the ball in front of you about two yards so you do not find yourself reaching behind your body to make contact. On your second step, step to the ball while swinging your arms behind you for more propelling strength. The last two steps come quite quickly. As you explode up off the ground, your arms pulling you upward, your left hand reaches to find the volleyball. Like a bow and arrow, your right arm pulls back, as the left hand steadies to find the target. In this case, the ball is your target. Keep in mind as you pull your right arm back in this position do not allow your elbow to drop. After you have found the ball with your left hand swing forcefully with your right arm being sure to snap your wrist and create topspin. Now, congratulations, you have successfully completed a jump serve. If your ball did not go over the net, do not be discouraged. However, I would recommend reading how to. . . lift weights.
