Huffman Trucking Systems Evaluation
An analysis of Huffman Trucking's telephone and data network is called for in order to seek improvements in these key systems. A company can often spend hundreds and thousands of dollars on state of the art phone systems only to replace them within a few years. When it comes to Huffman Trucking's telephone and data network systems, several areas of these systems are in need of improvement. The modifications and enhancements proposed will meet the current needs of the company as a whole while also allowing for growth into the future. Of the issues observed, many hardware items are shown to be inefficient. An analysis of the Huffman locations reveals that company-wide changes and upgrades are to be made in an effort to maintain data integrity and ease of use.
Huffman Trucking has been an innovator for transportation needs since 1963. The company operates hubs in Los Angeles, St. Louis, Cleveland and Bayonne (New Jersey), with 1,400 employees. The employees are expected to maintain communications among coworkers and clients. To be a profitable and growing company in a fiercely competitive business, Huffman must leverage technology to provide exceptional customer service and business efficiency. Improving the data and communication systems throughout the company will ensure that growth plans will be met. Communication in business is the key to success and interpersonal communication is an important factor in that success.
The California location for Huffman Trucking consists of an office and plant. While functional, many improvements are recommended to maintain the quality of service Huffman clients expect. The plant location uses a Nortel Digital Phone System (VOIP), while the office is using a regular POTS PBX without voice mail or caller ID capabilities.
