This paper will discuss research from 2 different companies, which have faced with different leadership and managerial issues. The companies that were chosen to research: Scott's Restaurant Inc - KFC. From the research gathered, the paper will focus on the issues the companies are facing such as compliance, communication, employee empowerment, organizational culture, and Leadership structure. The paper will also discuss the key course concepts as associated the scenario involving InterClean acquisition of EnviroTech.. It also included information about the companies each member has worked on.
PepsiCo-Frito-Lays-Tropicana
Cultural and technology changes were affecting both PepsiCo. Inc and Frito-Lay Inc. whose companies had separated Information Technology (IT) departments for over 30 years. However, with the acquisition of Tropicana in 1998, the CIO, Steve Shuckenbrock decided to restructure the IT departments by introducing what he called the PepsiCo Business Solutions Group (PBSG). It involved the restructure of job positions, titles, salaries, line of reporting and career advancement for all three IT departments. Similar to InterClean where after acquiring Enviro Tech, the company generated a skill inventory to compare the educational background of both companies and realized their employee's level of education was extremely different. The Director of Compensation at PepsiCo, Shan Burchenal with several human resources specialists interviewed IT senior managers to understand their issues and concerns. PepsiCo also hired a team of consultants to gather data about the different salaries range being paid in the market.
