Hunting And Fishing Regulations
Hunting and Fishing Regulations
It’s 5:00am and hunters across America are getting ready for their big day ahead. They plan on catching and killing what they would call a prized possession. Deer, elk, or hogs, whatever the hunter desires they will have, with the permission of the state that is. Hunting regulations help to regulate animal population, preserve wildlife habitats, and save endangered species.
Around America there are groups everywhere who dedicate their lives to protecting animals. But what they don’t understand is that an animal group’s population must by controlled. Letting animals reproduce freely would send some animal populations through the roof. It is the hunter’s job to keep some animal populations under control. Howard states, “The lives of both domestic and wild animals can be made kinder and gentler through such measures as habitat preservation and proper management of population densities” (Howard 739). This statement is true and has already been put into effect by America. Every state has their own set of rules and regulations regarding hunting. The rules and regulations give hunter’s a certain time frame and limit to when and how much they are allowed to hunt. This helps to control the animal population and also helps to protect the land in which animals’ habitat.
As the human population increases, the available land for animals decreases. Because of this many hunters have turned to creating their own plot land for animals to graze on. This not only provides a habitat for animals but also helps hunters to keep better control over some animal populations. This trend has already begun to flourish in North Dakota, “Wildlife management areas (WMAs) in North Dakota contain planted trees and food plots to provide habitat and public hunting” (Smith 2719-26). If hunters everywhere would set up food plots they could help preserve and control wildlife populations. Smith stated, “Research on the effect...
