This year will be the ten-year anniversary of the opening of the first Kudler Fine Foods in La Jolla, California. In the last ten years, Kudler has expanded and now have stores in the California towns of Del Mar, and Encinitas. In order for Kudler to continue on the path of higher elevation in the grocery industry, guidelines, policies and procedures are needed; the company should have a go to plan for hiring criteria, training and development tools, and an employee handbook.
By publishing its policies and procedures, Kudler Foods cuts down on miscommunication and misconception between Kudler Foods and its employees. Every possible question about the company, from the founding to the next level of success can be found in information published by the corporate office. The employee handbook will be the tool to reference for those frequently asked questions. The handbook includes topics such as insurance information, vacations, 401k plans, personal appearance, etc. Not having the employee handbook could result in lawsuits, no structure within the company and loss in sales.
Kudler Foods believes having an employee handbook contributes to the success it has experienced since it opened its first store. It is the law of the company, and informs employees what the consequences of their actions can be, for example, if an employee is fired for coming in late, it clearly states what is required of an employee and the consequences if the guidelines are not followed.
Organizational Charts within the company are also a requirement. The organizational chart that displays the company hierarchy is the chain of command chart.
