Problem Solution: InterClean
The purpose of this paper is present InterClean's current situation and review potential problems and opportunities. In reviewing these problems and opportunities, a problem statement has been defined along with an end-state vision.
Situation Analysis
Due to customer demand of total solutions to the commercial cleaning industry, and changes governing environmental safety, David Spencer, President and CEO of InterClean, is driven to make InterClean an industry leader on the sanitation scene by fulfilling the total needs of the customer in the institutional and industrial cleaning and sanitation industry. InterClean would like to take advantage of this demand to create new opportunities for InterClean by merging with EnviroTech to offer a "full range of service packages tailored to the customers need (Scenario: InterClean, Inc)."
InterClean must manage the merger to determine the strategic impact of human resource issues on organizational effectiveness by using human resources and executive teams to organize the changes within their internal structure due to the merger. "By providing information about contextual factors (e.g., the costs and quality associated with local labor markets) and about the organizational capability to implement a strategic plan, HRM informs the strategy formulation processes." (Dreher & Dougherty, 2001, p179). Currently, EnviroTech has service expertise and InterClean has resources. InterClean excels at product based sales but must be rapidly trained to the newly proposed solutions/service model of sales due to the time frame David has set to enable InterClean to be the first to introduce all-inclusive service.
