Interracial relationships have had a long, difficult history in the United States. The racial divide is closing; however it is important to realize the history of interracial relationships. Three generations ago, in the early part of the 20th century, it was illegal for a person of any other race to marry a caucasian. Black Codes were in place and Segregation was a legal way of life in most of the country, especially the South. Many African-American men lost their lives due to the false acusations of Caucasian women.
