Kudler foods is own by Kathy Kudler. Kathy’s idea was to create a gourmet food shop. She envisioned a place where customers could come and buy all of the items that they needed in order to make their perfect meal. The store would specialize in items that you could not get in just your ordinary food store. She was very sure that this would be a success to have all of these items in one location at a cheap price. In 1998, with the opening of the La Jolla store Kathy’s vision came to life. It was such a success that two years latter she ended up opening stores in two other locations, Del Mar and Encinitas. Each of the stores has several different shops located in them. They each have a European Style Bakery, which includes fresh breads and pastries. They all have a meat and seafood section as well. The meat and seafood are obtained from certified organic producers. They all have a cheese and dairy section as well. They carry over 250 varieties of cheese from 21 countries and they also special order any cheese that the customer’s may want if they do not have it in stock. They carry a wide-ranging assortment of domestic and imported wines and spirits. Their produce department is just as wonderful. Kudler also carries over 350 fresh fruits, vegetables, herbs and spices. Lately, Kudler’s Fine Foods has decided to start contracting with local growers of organic produce. They want to spread out their services while improving the effectiveness of its operations. If Kudler was to do this then there could be some benefits and some costs as well with their company. There will be some changes affecting Kudler’s supply chain, quality control tools, and performance standards.
