Labor Market Research

From my personal experience and research I found that the median wage has not increased much, in fact the mean wage has decreased just around one thousand dollars per year. I have seen that the pay scales are set by years of experience on the job. Agencies set pay scales so they can budget and provide a layout of what employees will get paid. The initial start pay of correctional officers is set by the agency; I was unfortunately unable to locate how the starting pay was determined by that agency.
