Why do people choose to become lawyers? Most will say "because lawyers make a lot of money". That's not always true and lawyers do a lot more than just make money. "In the United States, a lawyer has a dual role as an advisor and as an advocate. As an advisor, the lawyer keeps clients out of trouble by informing them of legal consequences of proposed actions, by drafting legal arrangements that comply with the law, and by advising about the client's rights and obligations in dealings with other people. The lawyer also assists in putting entangled affairs in order through counseling and negotiation. As an advocate, he or she assists in the administration of justice." (Mississippi Bar Association 3) That is a clear but small definition of what a lawyer does. So lets' hope you plan much more than just having a "heavy pocket" before even thinking about stepping into the vast legal world.
Before studying law, there are many questions you have to ask yourself. Starting with law school, will you attend a full time study, 3 years or part time study, for 4 to 5 years? What school will you attend? Evaluate your interests and goals and expand all options. Many students want to jump into the biggest and best law school there is. You need to first consider the cost of attendance along with that, the cost books, travel, food, and rent. The cost of law school can be very expensive. "Law students can expect to spend $25,000 to $60,000 to complete law school education those costs will range. Most students pay for law school with student loans." ( Mississippi Bar Association 3) Try to choose a law school in the type of area where you would want to practice law. Once you have found the school you will be attending, there are yet more very important things you will need to consider. Even going into law school, you may have to have some sort of back ground in law economics, history, and human motivation and behavior. Your curriculum should be based on personal desire....
