Macroeconomics II: Pepsi and the Carbonated Soft Drinks Industry
Pepsi is the second largest competitor in the Carbonated Soft Drinks (“CSD”) Industry in the United States holding 33.90% of the total U.S. market share’s volume as of October, 2006. Significant other industry players are Coca-Cola (44.0%) and Cadbury Schweppes (15.30%). Collectively, the companies hold 93.20% of the market share selling products in supermarkets and hypermarkets (34%) or convenience stores (24.7%). The industry provides “carbonated soft drinks sales of standard and diet cola, fruit flavored carbonates, mixers and other carbonates.” (Datamonitor, 2006).
