People are fearful of the unknown so naturally they question what effects the change will have on them. Communication is the key component in alleviating fears and concerns that may be provoked by change. As questions about uncertainties rise, productivity and morale will decrease. This it is essential to communicate what is changing and why. InterClean did a splendid job communicating the changes to it employees, however there was limited information given as to the next steps that are to follow. As a result of this inadequacy, employees are seeking other avenues and morale is decreasing rapidly.

Motivating Change & Creating a Vision
Due to the present restructuring and the attainment of EnviroTech, employees feel threatened and are uncertain of their future at InterClean. Therefore, the employees are not motivated to perform at high levels if it means they will be let go despite their efforts.

Training and Skill Development
InterClean appears to be behind the curve significantly as recorded in the compiled demographic data on proficiency levels in specified skills areas. Providing training will prove to employees that InterClean is not turning it’s back on them and the training will provide the necessary knowledge to accomplish duties proficiently as they head towards the restructure.
