My Worldview

My Worldview
I will admit that my perception of the world has not always been what it is now. My family has always shared a common belief in Christianity, and I’ve always just considered myself a Christian as well, even though I don’t think I always understood completely what it was all about. However, over the past couple of years, as my siblings joined youth groups and various bible studies and essentially grew closer in their relationship with God, I felt as though I was slowly drifting away. I went along to their youth meetings and listened in on their studies, but I when I say listen, I never really got anything from it. I had a hard time accepting the fact that to be a Christian you had to follow certain beliefs and morals. And during both freshman and sophomore years I struggled with the reality that my family has put so much faith and love into a God, and trusted that I shared these same feelings, when the truth is, I don’t believe in God at all.
In fact my past two years in high school have really allowed me to confirm my own belief system in a way, and I am finally growing comfortable enough with these beliefs that I can start to share them with my family. Very recently, as a matter of fact in response to this paper, I’ve shared my ideas about life with them and I’ve found that even though they believe in God, they are still accepting of my existentialist views as well.
They said they assumed that I believed the world came about by evolution, and I completely agreed. I see everything in existence as something that came about by chance. It just so happened that the location of the earth was a prime site to house the first living organisms, which eventually over billions of years grew into the extremely advanced beings known as humans. I don’t think it was God that created man and gave us all destined futures. I think it was perfect science.
