Nativity
Right around the turn of the fourteenth century, Italian artists Giotto and Duccio created portraits of the Nativity. The Nativity is a biblical story of the Virgin Mary and Joseph’s journey to Bethlehem in which Jesus of Nazareth, the Christian lord and savior, was born. Back in the times of Giotto and Duccio, many artists created pieces to help those less educated understand the biblical stories. Those that could not read the text of the Bible were able to look at the portraits and were able to visualize the stories better. While Giotto and Duccio created portraits of the same story, they used different techniques to portray different parts of the same biblical story....
