As Kudler Fine Foods starts to contract with local growers of organic produce, some serious issues need to be reviewed. Kudler will need to look at operational changes which will change the way the company performs its mission. There are a few processes which will negatively impact the way Kudler Fine Foods handles its business. To date Kudler is a fairly small business which has a great product for the local area. Most business processes that Kudler performs within the company are administered by the management team under the direction of founder Kathy Kudler. The processes Kudler’s Department Managers must perform (in relation to purchasing) are examined and evaluated later in this report. Deciding to contract local growers for organic produce might increase the overall Kudler supply; however the return on this investment might prove to be costly from a financial standpoint. A critical factor that Kudler must consider when deciding to change its business processes rests with the supply chain management model.
Kudler has established a wonderful link which reaches out to employees and customers alike. This link which incorporates all aspects of the company’s operation helps individuals learn more about the inner workings of the organization. The use of the internet by local consumers has introduced Kudler’s customers to an upscale epicurean food shop. Without the proper marketing and management Kudler’s product could have been easily just another business venture. Kudler’s internet and intranet provided great information on the aspects of its business. Faced with the decision to contract organic produce from local growers, Kudler must reorganize its supply chain management system.
