The following paper will discuss the Overview of Management at Kudler Fine Foods which provides specialty foods in the San Diego metropolitan area. The paper will describe Kudler's primary functions of management and who is responsible for each function and how Kudler uses technology and the internet and how the uses of this technology affect managerial decisions. The paper will also discuss Porter's Five Forces Model and how Kudler has incorporated each model in its strategic planning.
The four primary functions of management are: Planning and Strategizing, Organizing, Leading and Controlling. Each of these functions should be closely linked in order to provide real time data and adjustment if needed. Planning and Strategizing are considered each of the same. Meaning both are used to set future goals, objectives, mission statement and mapping out these plans and the ways to achieve these goals. The person or persons who make and create these goals are usually the senior executives or owners. These managers are concerned with how Kudler and interacts with its business partners. At Kudler's, the executives who help create these plans are: Kathy Kudler, President and Harvey Stephens, Director of Finance and Accounting. Kudler's strategic plan goals are to increase customer loyalty and profit by creating special customer programs like how to prepare specialty foods. Another objective is to track what products are being purchased and offer incentives to keep customers coming back. Since product pricing is not necessarily what keeps customers coming back, incentives are offered in the form of loyalty points which can be used to purchase higher priced items, upgrade in airline tickets or other specialty foods.
