Power is an effect of a role status by influencing the behaviors of others politics is used to overcome resistance and involves a conscious effort to organize organizational activity by challenging the opposition in a priority decision situation.
Power gives the individual a sense of control over outcomes; it allows the individual the ability to influence decisions about who gets what resources, what goals are pursued, what actions are taken, who succeeds and who fails. As issues become more complex and outcomes become more uncertain, power becomes a more attractive tool for reducing the uncertainty.
