Motivation and retention of employees are the keys to the success of all companies. Keeping employees motivated to build the company and to help them produce the top products is a task that most companies have mastered and some are working to achieve. Motivation is an employee's willingness to exert toward a goal (Dreher & Dougherty, 2001). The other side of motivation is ensuring that the employees of that company are compensated and have the knowledge and skills to perform to the best of their ability that is aligned with the company's strategy.
Riordan Manufacturing is a global plastics producer employing 550 people with projected earnings of $46 million. The company is owned by Riordan Industries which was created by Michael Riordan. The company has several division plants all over America and the world. Riordan recently have made changes to the company that will create better opportunities. With these changes several divisions in the company have been redesigned to include teams that are a product of the customer relationship management. This approach will help improve sales for the company. Although with changes comes issues and opportunities. In the case of Riordan they are experience some issues that have affected the company, senior leaders and the employees.
In this paper I will attempt to address the issues and opportunities that have presented themselves at Riordan, present the stakeholders issues and ethical dilemmas as well as creating an end state vision and goal. I will also perform a gap analysis of Riordan Manufacturing to determine the gap between the future of the company and its success. I will use resources, concepts and theories to support my findings that will help solve the issues that are present at Riordan Manufacturing.
