In Plato’s adaptation of Socrates dialogue with Phaedo, Socrates explains that death shouldn’t be feared because the soul is immortal. Through the theory of opposites, Socrates explains how death would result in life because ultimately, life ends in death. According to The Questions of King Milinda, death results in rebirth until perfection is obtained. Thus, in this paper I am going to argue that the fear of death is unreasonable.
The fear of death coincides with the fear of a disagreeable afterlife. However, according to Phaedo and the Questions of King Milinda, the afterlife leads to rebirth. Death is not a thing to fear since eventually you will come back or obtain nirvana....
