Regulatory Environment: Kudler Fine Foods
Kudler Fine Foods has realized substantial growth and success since the opening of their first store in 1998. The company was profitable in less than a year and opened two other stores within five years (Kudler Foods Intranet, 2007). Kudler Fine Foods has made a variety of decisions in their efforts to move the company forward and to increase profits. Kudler Fine Foods signing of a contract with local organic growers to produce organic products and the addition of catering services will provide new areas of growth for the company. The two expanded services are complimented with a new sales strategy and a customer relationship management system. During this time of transition, Kudler Foods will need to identify how they can implement these decisions within the constraints of the legal environment. Kudler Foods will need to ask questions regarding employment law, product liability law and contract law to ensure compliance and to protect the interest of the company. The purpose of this paper is to examine several legal questions regarding the new direction of Kudler Foods. This paper will cover what legal obligations Kudler Foods may have to its employees due to the shut down of certain departments, whether or not Kudler Foods should enter into contracts with local organic growers, and what product liability and regulatory implications Kudler Foods may face.
