Motivation describes in the dictionary as the psychological feature that arouses an organism to action toward a desired goal; the reason for the action; that which gives purpose and direction to behavior (dictionary.com). As the driving force behind every company, motivation is the cartilage that bounds the actions of the organization and employees toward specific goals and overall success. For Riordan, success of the company faces hindrance by complexities within the infrastructure. Riordan manufacturing has dissatisfied employees because various reasons. Employees believe that the compensation and benefits packages are not suitable. Many believe that the pay structure is not appropriate and that possibility for advancement within the company is non-existent. Because of these facts, Riordan's retention rate decreased heavily and the top executives believe that they are losing valuable employees to competitors. Riordan Manufacturing realizes that its most valuable assets are its human resources. Henceforth, Riordan must initiate vital decisions to revitalize the workforce within the company to bring resurgence to the morale of employees.
