Riordan Industries, a global plastics producer employing 550 people, with a desire to reach new customers with new products and increase stakeholder wealth, is facing concerns with employee moral, motivation, retention, and employee perception of inequality in pay and rewards systems. Riordan Industries, with revenues exceeding $1 billion, is divided among three plants: plastic beverage containers in Albany, Georgia; custom plastic parts in Pontiac, Michigan; and plastic fan parts in Hang Zhou, China. Riordan's corporate headquarters are in San Jose, California. Riordan's customers include automotive parts manufacturers, aircraft manufacturers, the Department of Defense, beverage makers and bottlers, and appliance manufacturers. Currently a gap exists between the management staff as to how to increase employee motivation and create a positive work environment that encourages productivity and a good work ethic. This paper will discuss the current situation, stakeholder's perspective, and end-state goals. In addition, this paper will discuss alternative solutions, risk assessment, mitigation techniques, choosing an optimal solution, recommendations for implementation, and results evaluation.
