The purpose of this paper is to explore the current issues facing Riordan Manufacturing. The two main factors that will be discussed in this paper are as follows: Communication difficulties, compensation, and retention. Each of these issues that will be explored in detail to provide an explanation of each problem, stakeholders and their dilemmas, and solutions for the issues that they are facing.
Situation Analysis
Issue and Opportunity Identification
Riordan Manufacturing has three main events that contributed to the opportunities pointed out in Table 1. The first event is that the plastics market has been under tremendous pressure. These economic difficulties have affected everyone in the market including Riordan Manufacturing. One of the first indicators leading to this event is the decline in the companies stock over the past three years. It has seen a drastic depreciation according to the Riordan Manufacturing Scenario. With these leading factors it was inevitable that Riordan Manufacturing would see a drastic turn in their profitability. They still have to maintain salaries in a time of the companies decline in revenue/worth. With these type of constraints the Senior Leadership Team has to make tough decisions.
From 1999 to 2006, the average tenure of departing chief executive officers in the United States declined from about 10 years to slightly more than eight. Although some CEOs stay a long time, a lot of them find that their stint in the corner office is remarkably brief.
