Introduction
To achieve success in the GAP analysis is important for a company to identify other organizations that had faced analogous situations, obtain information regarding the processes other companies have undertaken to solve the existing state of affairs, and compare one’s processes to the successful organizations, the process is known as Benchmarking.
For Riordan to complete a successful GAP analysis is necessary for the company to carry out a Benchmarking study. There is much to be said about the learning lessons unsuccessful results can provide to any organization, being able to recognize processes that do not work is as important as recognizing successful processes. For that reason, as the Benchmarking project moved on, Riordan’s Leadership Team made the decision to not only distinguish successful companies but also be aware of companies that had experience unsuccessful results through their new processes. Riordan identified the Rockwood School District as one organization that had experience unsuccessful results while implementing a new business strategy at the same time, Riordan recognized Sony Electronic as a company that successfully implement a new business strategy.
This paper will discuss Rirodan’s Benchmarking process with the Rockwood School District and Sony Electronic, the lessons learned from the process, and how Riordan can avoid the worst and implement the best of both companies to change the current state of affairs within the company.
Issue Identification
Throughout the GAP analysis Riordan identify the lack of teamwork between members of the Leadership Team as a primary reason for the unsuccessful results of the project to identify solutions for the low job satisfaction and declining productivity the company is facing.
