The corporate headquarters are located in San Jose, California, where it houses the research and development division. Riordan Manufacturing, Inc's major customers are the Department of Defense, automotive parts manufacturers, aircraft manufactures, appliance manufacturers, and beverage makers and bottlers. Riordan Manufacturing, Inc is a wholly owned Fortune 1000 enterprise. As is found in most companies across the United States, Riordan's daily operations is broken down into the following divisions to maximize organization and enhance overall operation capabilities: Finance and Accounting, Sales and Marketing, Human Resources, Operations, Legal, Information Technology
It is the intention of this overview to examine the Operations and information technology departments of Riordan Manufacturing, Inc. In addition, determine if the current systems in place are adequate or to recommend upgrades in order to help improve Riordan Manufacturing, Inc. improve day- to- day operations
Background
Founded in 1991 by Dr. Riordan, originally named Riordan Plastics, Inc, the company began as a research and development venture. Dr. Riordan soon purchased a fan manufacturing plant in Pontiac, Michigan, changed the name of the company to Riordan Manufacturing, Inc, and then expanded into plastic beverage containers in 1993, after acquiring a manufacturing facility in Albany, Georgia. An opportunity developed to purchase a manufacturing facility in Hangzhou, China. As a result, the entire fan manufacturing process relocated to China and the Pontiac, Michigan plant was retooled to produce custom plastic parts (Group, 2006).
