Gap Analysis: Global Communications

Global Communications is a technology firm that has seen in the past three years an increase in competition and a decrease in sales and revenue. Due to this Global Communication need to take drastic action to stay competitive. First there was the competition with the local market; slowly it shifted to include international companies and now the cable companies. Global Communication will need to act fact since several entities are going for the same consumers. Consumers are willing to leave their present service provider for a company that can encompass all their needs (long distance service, cable, and internet services).
Global Communication team of senior management leaders has developed a strategic plan that entails lowering the cost of the company by implementing several items. These items include laying off several employees, and setting up call centers in India and Ireland. By doing this the Technology Union will lose even more the 20% in educational and health benefits. Global Communications will have to use effective decision-making techniques, which is defined as "essential for both organizations and individuals. Changes in organizational structures, processes, technology, and the availability of data have increased the need for members at all levels of organization to make decisions, and make them effectively". (Janasz, Dowd & Schneider 2002)
