Kudler Fine Foods is a corporation with three local stores providing gourmet products to consumers. The company has a reasonable management structure for a retail industry including executive management and individual store operations management. Kudler Fine Foods evaluated and selected an accounting and financial management system to assist with business operations and data collection. A consulting company was hired to ensure proper installation and implementation of the computer systems. The accounting system implemented has a daily impact on all management in the company. The forces of Porter's Model have key factors that must be monitored by Kudler Fine Foods management on a regular basis.
Management Primary Functions
There are two sets of management in Kudler Fine Foods, corporate management and store management. President, Kathy Kudler is part of the corporate management. She takes responsibility for all legal issues with the company's attorney, Anne Shousha. The arrangement Kathy has formed with her sister-in-law Anne Shousha has proven to keep the costs of legal issues to a minimum. Kathy sees her primary role and key responsibilities are to find new gourmet foods. Kathy takes an active role in the accounting and forecasting activities in conjunction with her department managers. Kathy is solely responsible for all advertisements related to the business. There are three corporate directors. The Director of Administration & HR, Brenda Wagner is responsible for areas "such as employment, compensation, labor relations, benefits, training, and employee services." (Kudler Internet/Intranet Portal, 2007). This director also represents the company keeping abreast of legislation related to and conducting negotiations of bargain agreements.
