In Synthetic Supply we must utilize a change management plan. A "change management plan is a structured process and set of tools for managing the people side of change such that business results are achieved, on time and on budget (Change Management [CM], 1996, p.1)." This process must be implemented in any company in order for that organization to be successful and contend with other companies.
Many companies use different techniques of management supply, Synthetic Supply would utilize a technique of change management called the PLOT approach which is abbreviated for plan, lead, operate and track. Many companies make the mistake of not being able to realize that change is not free nor easy. If a change management plan is not properly budgeted and resourced it can ultimately grind to a halt. Synthetic Supply has realized that turning ideas into action is not always easy and may require a leadership team to be implemented to help mitigate some unprepared changes. In order for companies like Synthetic Supply to become successful the change management efforts should be targeted to the most valuable strategies and tactics.
The steps are broken down into and defined as
• Planning requires a robust self-assessment, a review of customers and products, and rigorous analysis of the value, risk and investments associated with the change program.
• Leading starts by finding and directing the right change team, and engaging the broader staff along the way.
• Operating means treating the change itself like a business, with its own plan and decisions.
• Tracking requires finding the two or three key indicators that show change results in increased production, bigger market share or fatter profits.
