Many people today believe that we are in World War III right now, and many believe that we aren't. Many people believe that we are just in the War on Terror, just because of September 11th. Many people believe that we just want oil from the Middle East. Whether or not you believe World War III has already started, it is an issue that should concern everybody, no matter what age.
In order for you to know anything about what is going on with the war today, you have to know about history. It is very important to know about events and critical points in wars during the past. During World War 2, there were over 35 countries that were involved in the conflict. Today, during the Global War on Terror, there are 38 countries involved with it. Terrorism has taken place in tons of countries all over the world. With all of these countries involved it is kind of hard not to believe that it is a World War. All of the countries involved with this fight, have been affected by terrorism in some way. There have been over 37 countries that have had attacks made on them. With all these attacks on all these different countries, don't you think that this is a war that's about The World vs. Terrorism? With these two major players I think that its necessary to consider this as a World War. After all, it has acquired the name "The Global War on Terror".
According to our good friend Webster, the definition of a World War is "a war engaged in by all or most of the principal nations of the world." Let me list some of the "principal" nations of the world. There is the United States, Russia, Great Britain, China, Japan, and there are others. Now isn't it a coincidence that all of these countries are involved with this war?
