2.9 Cost/Benefit Analysis

Assume:
- You can buy an ATM machine (including the video system) for $3000 per unit delivered to your facility.
- - XYZ bought a corporate license for the language software at an annual cost of $25000.
- The cost for both acceptance testing from the vendor and installation testing at the location selected by XYZ is $200/ATM.
- The set up cost at a designated location is $100/ATM.
- After the initial 50 ATMs are installed, installation will be at a rate of 16-17 ATMs per month.

When (month and year) will XYZ Corporation show a profit on the ATM system?

Based on the data provided XYZ will show a profit in November 2008. This is based on the total cost of each ATM of $3300.00 (3000 per unit plus acceptance testing and set up costs). It is also assumed from previous information provided that each ATM will provide 667 transactions per month (250,000 total transactions divided by 250 ATM machines with 1.5 transactions per fee paid) at a rate of $1.20 per transaction ($2.00 * 60% as 40% is shared with the ATM host site).

Please review the attached Excel spreadsheet.
