Vasco da Gama: Early Explorer
Born sometime in the 1460’s, Vasco da Gama was an early explorer of Portugal. Following his fathers footsteps, he became a great sailor and commander of the seas, one of the most respected of his time. Da Gama lived a full life overcoming many obstacles and leading great expeditions. The most important event that took place was his sea voyage to India. This was of great importance to his country because it established a sea route bypassing all the lands and people that lay between Portugal and the Orient.
It was almost impossible to have access to the goods of the Orient because of the religious wars between the Christians...
