Was Vergil an Environmentalist?
Vergil understood many things in terms of the great civilization that Rome had become. He comprehended why he was chartered to write the Aeneid by the Emperor Augustus and even included Augustus’ own relation to the gods which would help to strengthen the Emperors claim to power. However, being a savvy political figure and being an environmentalist are two ends of the spectrum that are seemingly light-years apart in today’s political scene.
