What I learned
In this year H.E.D.S class I learned lots of new thing that I can apply to my every day life and college life. This class was very helpful to me I learned in this class about: staying in college, what the acronym P.O.W.E.R means: managing my time, my learning style, making good decisions, and taking notes.
I understand that it is very important for me to stay in college because most people in college learn more about things that interest them and make more money. Another good reason I learned is you learn to communicate and think analytically. The acronym means P.O.W.E.R means Prepare, Organize, Work, Evaluate and Rethink. All those things are important to achieving a successful future and are important reasons for staying in college. I learned how to assess the amount of time I spend on daily activities and using a calendar or planner can help mange my time better.
I learned that most people don't spend their time wisely. Time well spent defines a wise person. Most people have lots of things they that have to do everyday and things such as procrastination, which is putting things off to the last minute slows them down.
Next I learned about different learning styles. Auditory learning is a style of learning in which a person learns most effectively by listening to information delivered
orally, in lectures, speeches, and oral sessions. Auditory learners make up about 25% of the population. Another kind of style of learning I realzied I most favor was Visual learning. Visual learning is a proven teaching method in which ideas, concepts, data and other information are associated with images and represented graphically. Graphic organizers, such as webs, concept maps and idea maps, and plots, such as stack plots and Venn plots, are some of the techniques used in visual learning to enhance thinking and learning skills.
