A Good Man Is Hard To Find Term Paper

"A Good Man Is Hard to Find" by Flannery O'Connor is about a family vacation road trip that has a tragedy ending. The grandmother tries to convince her son Bailey that they should go to Tennessee instead of florida, but his kids, John Wesley and June Star, don't like the idea. The grandmother hides her cat in a basket and takes the cat against her son's will. They stop to eat and when they are back on the road the kids insist to go to a house the grandmother once visited, but the grandmother realizes that that the house was not in Georgia, but in Tennessee instead. She jerks the basket and the cat jumps on Bailey's neck making him lose control of the car that rolls over off the road. They are shaken but they're all right.
The grandmother waves for help to a car, there are three men in the car and they get out carring guns. The grandmother recognizes the driver from the newspaper; he is a fugitive called Misfit. She tells him that he wouldn't dare shoot a lady, and that she can tell he comes from good people. The Misfit orders his companion Bobby Lee to take Bailey and John over to the woods and shoots are heard after a while. The grandmother tells the Misfit that if he tried, he could be honest and have a good life. She asks if prays and his answer is no. She insists that he should pray, but he says he doesn't need it. He doesn't remember why he ended up in prison and say that crime doesn't matter because they punish you the same. Hiram and Bobby Lee take the mother, the baby, and June star to the woods.
Alone with the Misfit, the grandmother cries for Jesus and the Misfit tells her that Jesus threw the world off balance. They hear a scream and more shoots, and she repeats all her pleas. The Misfit says that you have to follow Jesus if he is right, but if he is not, you have to do as much mean things as you can. In shock, she says that maybe Jesus actually did not resurrect, and the Misfit tells her that he wish he had been there to know. She thinks...
