Change Managment Plan For Crystel
CrysTel is a telecommunications company operating in the United States with over 2,500 employees and is the producer of such products as data cables, wireless solutions and network development. With the rapid and frequent advances in the telecommunications industry, CrysTel is faced with technological and administrative issues that must be addressed if they wish to remain a competitive force in the industry. Currently CrysTel is planning to diversify its business by offering unconventional services such as Copper Interconnectivity, General Packet Radio Services (GPRS) and other real time solutions.
As with any organizations most employees will be resistant to change. It is a natural emotion that most people face when confronted with the unknown. Resistance to change is the action taken by individuals and groups when they perceive that a change that is occurring as a threat to them (Folger & Skarlicki 1999). The threat need not be real or large for resistance to occur. A survey was taken in order to gage the level of resistance of the employees and to determine what steps should be taken to make this a smooth transition. CrysTel is comprised of 5 departments. They are Technology Development, Technology Operations, Human Resources, Marketing, and Sales and Delivery. Here is a breakdown of each department and their current resistance levels (University of Phoenix 2007):
Technology Development
This department develops the technology required to develop CrysTel's products from initial design to operations. The two major development areas include Business Systems that provide back office support and Network Systems that deal with the network.
In this department project managers display a participative form of leadership in assigning tasks and setting work schedules. System developers are encouraged to look for innovative solutions.
