Capital punishment has existed throughout most of our nation’s history. More than five hundred and twenty-five men and women have been put to death here in Ohio. Thirty-five hundred people are now on death row. During 1996, at least four thousand two hundred and seventy-two prisoners are known to have been executed in thirty-nine states. By the mid-1960’s, public opposition to the death penalty had reached a high. It is still a controversy now with the question of morality as its fuel. (Capital) Although capital punishment is legal in many places of the world, it is still wrong and immoral.
